This month there will be a sample My Gym class for the toddlers. We will be marching in the Spring Parade and having our Egg Hunt. After the break, we will finish up our color segment. The children will be able to take home their color books and "read" them to their families. Next is our shape segment. We will sing "This Old Man" and "Five Little Ducks" during circle time, and start preparing for our Mother's Day Celebration.
3 year old class:
During April, the 3's will be talking about many aspects of Spring with a concentration on Bugs!! As part of this unit, we will be getting tiny caterpillars for our classroom. The children will watch the transformation as they eat and grow, form a chrysalis and emerge as a beautiful butterfly. We are celebrating the season with the Spring Hat Parade and Celebration, and Egg Hunt. The children were sad to see the My Gym program end, but are looking forward to more outside time now that the weather is getting warmer. Towards the end of the month, we will start working on the projects that will be presented at our Mother's Day Tea in May.
4 year old class:
Our Spring Hat Parade was a success! The children were very proud wearing their Spring hat creations and all boys and girls looked adorable. Both teachers and parents took many pictures. After the parade, the children enjoyed the Egg Hunt in the playground. A math lesson was incorporated into the Egg Hunt since each child received 12 eggs (or a dozen) in their bunny holder. The children had to count out 12 eggs from the large pile. April 22 is Earth Day and the 4's will write in their journals telling how they too can care for our planet. They will discuss the meaning of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Spring also brings lessons about animals being born, plants growing and how the trees begin to change. They will learn what a meadow is and sing the song “Over in the Meadow.” The children will also create a mural depicting the signs of Spring. As you can see, the 4's are really hopping into the season!!
