2 Year Old Class:
During the month of January, the 2's will be reading Polar Bear, Polar Bear during circle time. To celebrate the winter season, the children will be making snowmen and other cold loving creatures during craft time. We are all looking forward to the start of the Mobile My Gym program, but will continue to play outside as long as the temp stays at 32 degrees or higher.
3 Year Old Class:
The 3's are excited to be back from the winter break and are quickly getting back into the classroom routine. We are talking about the new season of winter and creating a Winter Book and a Snow Village. The children will learn about Martin Luther King. In addition, we will be discussing polar animals, winter birds and the state of hibernation. The children will be making creative bird feeders to use at home. We are spending more time reviewing colors, shapes, patterns, letters and numbers. Everyone is looking forward to the Mobile My Gym program.
4 Year Old Class:
Brrrr....Winter has arrived! The 4's are continuing their discussions of winter and animals. We will learn about polar bears and penguins. Winter words will be displayed (frost, icy, chilly, etc). The children will match socks and mittens and talk about pairs. Each child will paint a pair of mittens. There will be a discussion about ways to be kind to each other and we will relate this to Martin Luther King. When President Barack Obama takes office again on Jan. 20th, the children will read their Scholastic Weekly Reader - "Meet Mr. President!" The children continue to work in their journals promoting literacy and their math concepts are improving as we count down for the 100th day of school. The Mobile My Gym program starts this month.
