We have started our color segment. Circle and craft time will focus on an assigned color each week. At the end of the segment the children will have a color book to take home and "read" to their families. We are also singing our beanie song and reading "Goldilocks and The Three Little Bears".
3 year old class:
During the month of March, the 3's will finish up the season of winter and the Dinosaur theme. We will be getting ready for springtime and for Pearl River's favorite - St. Patrick's Day! The class will also begin to plan for Easter and Passover by making hats for the Spring Hat Parade and by creating baskets for the Egg Hunt.
4 year old class:
March blew in with a discussion of Lions and Lambs and the meaning of the phrase “March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.” In arts and crafts, children are busy making lions and lambs to display around the classroom. Also, everything is popping up “green” in the 4's! Shamrocks, leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold are being painted and drawn by the children. They will read “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss and they will cook and taste the eggs and ham! They will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss by reading some of his stories and making a tall red and white hat for “The Cat in the Hat.” The children will also learn about good dental habits. They will talk about what snacks are healthy and how they can keep their teeth in good condition. They will make a class book showing what they learned about dental care. On March 16, a dentist will visit the 4-year-old classroom to speak to them about keeping their teeth healthy. Spring is just around the corner and the children are enjoying the outside play. They will soon be noticing the budding daffodils and leaves on the trees. Nature walks will be exciting to begin again!!
