Outdoor Fun
2 year old class:
The 2's are starting to adust to our school routine. This month, we will be singing about pumpkins, reading our green monster book, and continue with the ball song during circle time. The children will be joining the rest of NNS on the trip to De Piero's Farm. Parent participation will begin in the middle of October. This should be fun for both the children and their caregivers!

Working on days of the week
3 year old class:
October has arrived quickly, and we have a lot going on in the 3's. We are reviewing shapes and colors with the children as part of our circle time activities. Our main theme for the month is Fall Fun! We will be baking with the apples from our Apple Picking Trip. We will be talking about Fall leaves, chipmunks, and acorns with fun corresponding crafts. Everyone is looking forward to our next trip to the Pumpkin Patch where we will select and later carve out our class pumpkin. The children loved their first music class with Miss Sue and look forward to it being a regular part of the schedule. Finally, the month will conclude with our Halloween parties and parades.

Making Playdough
4 year old class:
Autumn is in the air and around the classroom. Our apple theme continues with taste testing and graphing the children’s favorite apple: red, green or yellow. Baking with the apples picked during our class trip to the apple orchard is a fun and delicious way to explore the theme. The 4’s paint murals depicting the three ships that sailed to the new world for Columbus Day. A nature mural will be created showing all the things and changes the students notice on their Fall Nature Walk. The children will paint beautiful t-shirts using real leaves as their stencils. Our Pumpkin Theme includes a fun trip to De Piero’s Farm where the children take a hayride, pick a pumpkin, explore the Halloween displays, and enjoy fresh apple cider and doughnuts. Pumpkin crafts and science study along with Halloween projects are set for later in the month. Our “princesses” and “super heroes” will parade their costumes and spend a fun day making “eyeball pie” and listening to stories as we celebrate the holiday.
