September Class News

9/6/2013

2 Year Old Class:
September is all about new beginnings.  We will meet our new friends and get familiar with the classroom and, of course, the toys!  We will get to know our teachers and learn our friends' names by singing the ball song at circle time.  The class will also sing a fun version of When You're Happy and You Know It during circle.  Class will be shorter this month to help with adjustment to school.  Welcome to the two's!!!

3 Year Old Class:
Welcome to the Three Year Old Class!  Miss Judy and Miss Anna Lisa are excited to introduce the children to new friends. The children will be exploring and learning about different things in their new classroom.  Each year we begin our first day as a whole class with a book entitled The Kissing Hand which helps ease the children into the new school year.  The children will make placemats that they will use at snack time for the entire school year. Our first theme of the year will be "Fun with Apples."  We are looking forward to a great year!

4 Year Old Class:
Welcome to a new school year!  Our opening theme is “friends” and learning how to develop new friendships. The children will draw self-portraits and each child will have a book to take home which includes all their classmates.  They will be introduced to journal writing and their first entry will be to draw their favorite part of school.  Our apple theme will begin mid-September.  The children will enjoy tasting, baking, observing, and creating crafts all centered around apples.  Our music teacher, Miss Sue, will begin our music class towards the end of the month.

Kindergarten Enrichment:
During the month of September, the KE class will start with getting to know each other, making new friends, and composing class rules. Our journal writing will begin with explaining our summer activities/vacation to our teacher and classmates.  Our fall theme of apples will incorporate math skills through graphing, creating patterns and counting groups of apples.  Literacy will be encouraged through our writing a book about what we have learned about apples.
