The Kindergarten Enrichment Program at Nauraushaun Nursery School provides an individualized and collaborative experience for kindergarten-age children attending half-day kindergarten. Our program is focused on reinforcing, as well as expanding on the kindergarten curriculum in a fun and engaging manner. We use a center-based learning approach that allows our certified teachers to give individualized instruction, while fostering independent learning skills in preparation for first grade. Children learn through fun, in a friendly and nurturing environment.
Program teachers take a collaborative, team approach with each child’s kindergarten teacher. Identified strengths and weaknesses are addressed in the enrichment classroom during the course of the year. Homework support and one-on-one instruction are some of the many ways teachers provide specialized attention to each child. Center-based small group work and teacher led discussion play an important role in instruction and concept mastery. Teachers give updated feedback to the parents regarding their child’s progress throughout the year.
The Kindergarten Enrichment Program is available 2, 3, or 5 days a week from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
Pearl River School District students may be bused directly to NNS at no additional cost. Students bring their lunch.
The Kindergarten Enrichment classroom reinforces and builds upon the Fundations Early Literacy Program used in kindergarten classrooms. Leveled books consistent with the kindergarten curriculum are within reach at all times. Students maintain personal journals to build on writing and fine motor skills. The program uses a hands-on approach to math, science, social studies, and art with emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking skills. Lunch, outdoor time, and free play round out the daily routine. Special guests such as musicians, the dentist, librarians and the local fire department visit throughout the year.
